Local program aims to improve bicycle safety
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- An effort to improve bicycle safety is in full swing for spring.
A six-month program called "Share and Be Aware GB" is designed to make travel safer around Green Bay for pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers.
The program will try to spread the word around the city on proper safety procedures through billboards, signs and brochures.
According to the state's motor vehicle division, over the past half-dozen years, an average of 10 bicyclists die in motor vehicle related crashed every year on Wisconsin roads -- and nearly one thousand are injured.
