The Brown County Sheriff's Office says an investigation is underway after a woman's body was found around 2 p.m. on Saturday near a field on the south side of Hoffman Rd. in Bellevue.

Officials say they are working on the case as if it is a homicide. The body has not been identified.

The State Crime Lab has been called in to collect evidence from the scene.

The Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation and the Green Bay Police Department were also on scene.

"Generally any death that isn't obviously explained as a homicide, in this case there is some evidence that would lead us to believe that this is probably the case here," said Capt. David Poteat.

FOX 11 contacted the sheriff's office on Sunday for more information but authorities did not have an update.

We will continue to follow this story and keep you updated as more information becomes available.
