GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A family is making a difference for firefighters in Green Bay.
The Green Bay Metro Fire department received a donation Friday in Green Bay.
The donation came from Brenda Herold who donated in honor of her great aunt who died a few years ago.
The nearly $100,000 donation will be used to purchase life safety equipment.
The safety equipment included ballistic vests and helmets used for incidents that include responding to an active shooter.
Herold says she donated her great aunt's money to the fire department because of the risk they take everyday, "We just focused our efforts on public safety, they're out there for us everyday making a difference."
The fire department also purchased fire hoods which protect firefighters from cancer causing particles in a structure fire.
