GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A De Pere woman continues to make a difference in the lives of local children during the holiday season.

Since 2013, Grace Treml, otherwise known as Grandma Grace, has been making fleece blankets and then giving them to kindergarten students at Howe Elementary School.

Each year, she says she sews about 100 blankets throughout the year. This year, she said she made 79.

Grandma Grace says giving blankets every year makes both her heart and kids’ hearts happy.

"It’s something I sort of inherited from my mom. She used to make things and give it to everybody and since she’s not around, I am following in suit on that and this is the perfect place to do it with the kids," Grace said.

Twila, one of the students, says she only has one blanket and she is excited to take the one she picked out home and sleep with it.

Grace says she also delivered 21 blankets to Tank Elementary School in Green Bay this year.
