APPLETON (WLUK) -- The 9th annual North Shore Bank "Race for the Hungry" took place in Appleton today.

It happened at the Piggly Wiggly on Northland Avenue, and benefits the "Apple Valley Food Pantry."

Members of 3 girl scout troops from Ferber Elementary School were today's shoppers.

With their decked-out carts and wish lists, the girls scrambled through the supermarket.

Organizers say it's a great to give back to those in need.

"It's a wonderful feeling. I mean, so many people, especially at this time of the year are in need of grocery items and if we can give back and help out, it's just a wonderful feeling." says Kerri Collins, North Shore Bank's District Manager.

The winning shopping team received a 100 dollar Piggly Wiggly gift card.

The runner ups received a 50-dollar gift card.
