GRAND CHUTE (WLUK) -- The pieces are coming together for a training program that received a $6.5 million grant this summer.

Fox Valley Technical College, in partnership with Rawhide Youth Services and Goodwill of North Central Wisconsin, met with several area manufacturing employers -- including Pierce Manufacturing, Ariens and Amcor -- to discuss its Career EXCELerate Wisconsin project.


The project aims to get help marginalized individuals re-enter the workforce. It is specifically designed to support people who were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly those navigating mental health challenges.

Trauma-informed staff will help students navigate their classes when the program begins in January. An estimated 400 students will earn the certifications and training they may need to enter the workforce, including jobs in manufacturing, health care, transportation and education.
