(WLUK) -- After an incident at Trestle Trial in Fritse Park Wednesday, the Department of Justice has named the man who was shot and killed by officers.

25-year-old Joshua Gomoll from Kaukauna was confronted by Appleton police officers after they were dispatched to Trestle Trail for reports of a man "acting erratically" with a knife.

During the confrontation an officer shot at Gomoll. Officers tried to treat him, but he died on the scene.

That officer is now on administrative leave, per the department's policy.
