MACKVILLE (WLUK) -- Flying into the new year, model airplanes zipped across the sky in Mackville Sunday.

Members of the Valley Aero Modelers Group celebrated the 20th Frozen Finger Fun Fly event.

Participants were able to fly their model airplanes and use the time to catch up with group members.

Sunday's weather was also a nice addition to this year's event.

"This one's been gorgeous today. It's one of our better events. It's actually not that cold. The wind's been down and we've got beautiful sunshine out," said Mickey Prock, group member.

The group says it can be difficult to fly in the winter months but they still try their best to fly when they can.
