BEAVER DAM (WLUK) -- Crews throughout Northeast Wisconsin were out trying to keep icy roads safe for drivers, but the Dodge County Highway Department was asked to clean something else off the roads Tuesday night.

Thousands of red Skittles were discovered scattered on County Highway S near Blackbird Road in Beaver Dam.

Officials say a flat-bed truck was transporting the Skittles when the box got wet from the rain and gave way, causing the red-colored candy to spill out on the highway.

The red Skittles, deemed unfit for packaging, were intended to be feed for cattle.
