Fox Cities Red Kettle Campaign kicks off 100th year of bell ringing
APPLETON (WLUK) -- The Salvation Army Fox Cities 100th year of bell ringing kicked off Friday.
With the help of Appleton Mayor, Tim Hanna, the bell ringing season started in the Fox Valley.
Christmas music and the campaign's mascot, Captain Kettle, welcomed donors.
With the help of these donations, area families are provided assistance during times of need.
Officials say that they are also in need of bell ringers this year.
"This year we're in dire need of bell ringers. Today, for instance, we only have one of four bell ringing shifts filled. Typically on any day, we need 300 to 400 bell ringers," said Robb Waugus, Salvation Army Fox Cities development director.
