APPLETON (WLUK) -- The Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce is asking to delay a vote on a tax incentive plan to keep a Fox Valley paper facility open.

The $100 million tax incentive bill to prevent Kimberly-Clark's Cold Spring facility in Fox Crossing from closing and the loss of hundreds of jobs has a deadline of Sept. 30.

The chamber is asking to delay the vote until Nov. 30, after elections, so newly elected officials can work together in a bipartisan manner to pass the bill, "Sixty extra days to preserve a 146-year manufacturing relationship is a reasonable request."

The Assembly passed the bill in February but it stalled in the Senate. Republican leaders have said they don't have the votes to pass it as is and will need Democratic backers to pass.
