Former prison worker charged with sexual assault of an inmate pleads not guilty
OSHKOSH (WLUK) – A former prison worker accused of having sex with an inmate and sending him nude photos pleaded not guilty Monday.
April Paulsen, 38, is charged with second-degree sexual assault by a correctional staff member, and two count of delivering illegal articles to an inmate.
An Oct. 23 trial date was set at Monday’s arraignment, court records indicate.
Acting on a tip, prison security and Oshkosh police began an investigation May 11, about a month after Paulsen began working at the Oshkosh Correctional Institution. A criminal complaint says both the inmate and Paulsen worked in the kitchen.
The state Department of Corrections says Paulsen is no longer employed at the prison and that it has no tolerance for sexual harassment or sexual abuse.
