FOND DU LAC (WLUK) -- The number-two prosecutor in the Fond du Lac County District Attorney's Office has died.
Deputy District Attorney Dennis Krueger died Saturday at his home, District Attorney Eric Toney announced Monday. Krueger's death appears to be a result of natural causes, Toney said.
Toney released a statement, which read in part:
Dennis had a passion for justice as well as sharing his knowledge and experience with those around him. There is no doubt in my mind that Fond du Lac County and our State are both a safer place because of Dennis. It’s no surprise that at the 2018 Fond du Lac County Law Enforcement Executive Association Banquet Dennis received the “officer of the year” award for his incredible work. I believe that was the first time in the history of our association that a prosecutor joined in receiving that award.
Krueger had been with the Fond du Lac County DA's Office since 2012. Before that, he worked as a prosecutor in Walworth, Outagamie and Waukesha counties, and also spent time with the state Department of Justice.
Visitation is set for 5-8 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Ripon Community Church, 155 State St., Ripon. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Krueger was 56 years old.
