GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- The Green Bay Police Department has some new faces.

The department added five new officers during a swearing-in ceremony Monday.

Those officers come from all over the U.S.; one coming as far as California to join the department.

One officer who has local ties to the area says it's great to be back home.

"It means a lot to be part of a community which I grew up with," said officer Scott Delsart. "Being able to do it for the city that I'm from, coming out of the military, being able to continue to serve others, is a privilege."

Green Bay police chief, Andrew Smith, says right now the department is still understaffed by eight officers.

Smith said he'd rather be understaffed to make sure he hires the right people for the department.
