Fire damages home in Town of Seymour; dog initially presumed dead may have survived
TOWN OF SEYMOUR (WLUK) -- Two adults and three children are without a home following an overnight fire in Outagamie County.
The Town of Seymour's fire chief says firefighters were called to a home on Cemetery Road just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. While they were able to control the fire in about an hour, firefighters were on scene until about 12:30 a.m.
Preliminary investigation indicated the fire started in the garage and spread to the house. No cause has been determined, however, as the investigation continues.
The home is uninhabitable.
All the people inside the house got out safely, but a pet cat died in the fire. A dog was initially presumed dead as well, but firefighters said on Wednesday that it may have been spotted around 5 a.m. in the area of Hwy. 55 and Gardner Road. The dog was described as a 10-pound dachshund, but no further description was available. Anyone who sees the dog is asked to call the town constable at (920) 833-7488.
