GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- City leaders and environmental groups visited Ken Euers Nature Area in Green Bay Monday to see the progress in the fight against invasive species.

The 50-acre site off North Military Avenue used to be covered in the invasive reed grass called phragmites.

"This site has had fantastic response to herbicide treatment. If you were here prior to the treatment, you would have seen a wall of phragmites. You wouldn't even have seen the bay behind," said Angela Kowalzek-Adrians, Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission.

The group also toured Green Isle Park in Allouez.
