FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WLUK) -- A man who holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records celebrated 50 years of eating his favorite McDonald's sandwich Tuesday.
It was on May 17, 1972 when Fond du Lac's Don Gorske ordered his first Big Mac at the McDonald's restaurant on S. Military Road.
Since then, he has eaten a Big Mac almost every day.
On May 4, 2018, Gorske ate his 30,000th Big Mac and became the first person to eat the most Big Macs, as recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records. He further solidified his record in December of 2021 by reaching 32,672 Big Macs eaten in a lifetime.
Gorske was featured in the 2004 documentary "Super Size Me."
"I got a comic of somebody saying I was gonna die of a heart attack within 15,000 big macs. Heck, now I'm over 30,000. I'm still alive. It's not really the food you eat. It's your lifestyle. If you're lazy, I probably would have gained a lot of weight. But because I'm so active, I burn off my only calories," he said.
Gorske says he only missed eight days out of 50 years.
