GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A man died after he drove into the Fox River in Green Bay.

Police say they responded to the Metro Boat Launch on Bay Beach Road Wednesday around 8:30 a.m. for a report of a vehicle driving into the water.

Witnesses say the vehicle drove into the water at a high rate of speed.

Divers were able to locate the man and pull him out.

Crews pulled the car out of the water.

Officials say the car ended up about 30 feet off shore and 20 feet deep.

"The conditions are not in our favor. When a situation like this occurs, when divers go into the water, their visibility is almost zero and then you couple in the current with that, it makes the diving situation even more difficult," said Capt. Kevin Warych of the Green Bay Police Department.

Officials did not say why the man drove into the Fox River.
