OSHKOSH, Wis. (WLUK) - Ice conditions can change quickly, as two fishermen found out on Lake Winnebago Wednesday afternoon.

The Oshkosh Fire Dept. says it was called to the lake, about a quarter mile out from Merritt Avenue, just after 1 p.m. A truck had gone through the ice.

The fishermen told firefighters the ice was solid when they parked. When they returned, a crack had formed and their truck fell into the water. Emergency crews examined the fishermen at the scene and found they were not injured.

The fire department says the crack continued to expand and left a large area of open water.

Firefighters remind ice users that the ice is never completely safe.
