CASCO (WLUK) -- Liquid manure spilled onto a downtown street in Casco Thursday morning.
The Kewaunee County Conservation Department says the spill of 200-300 gallons happened around 7:20 a.m. on Main Street near Highway C. The spill was on the south side of the street and covered about 400 feet before a highway department crew was able to contain it.
The sheriff's department says Stodola Ag Transports was hauling the manure. The driver said the dump spout on the trailer dropped, causing the liquid to spill out. The driver was ticketed for spilling waste/load on or alongside a highway.
No waterways or wells were impacted and the manure did not get into the storm system.
The spill was cleaned up around 11 a.m.
