Bras of the Bay sparks hope for Breast Cancer survivors
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Thursday night, people gathered for the fourth annual Bras of the Bay event to make a difference for breast cancer survivors.
The event brings awareness to breast cancer, and the reconstruction options available.
'It's really important to get the word out. Breast cancer patients are living longer, they're being diagnosed earlier and really restoring them back to their form before breast cancer treatment is important in getting them moving forward," said one organizer." It's surprising to find out that a lot of patients aren't aware that breast reconstruction is an option and it's covered under federal law, so insurance companies do have to cover this treatment."
Businesses throughout the area decorated bras, and those were highlighted at the event.
FOX 11's Michelle Melby emceed the event.
