GRAND CHUTE (WLUK) -- Not to scare you into a heart attack, but it's Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month and to support that cause, the Appleton Youth Football Association received a donation Wednesday.

The $2,400 from Unison Credit Union bought two defibrillators to use at football games.

The units have been found to increase sudden heart attack survival rates by up to 50 percent

"One of the biggest concerns for youth all the way through is the sudden cardiac arrest. We have seen AED's help young individuals at Appleton North," said Nick Salm of the Appleton Youth Football Association. "It's a new standard. It's something that we're hopeful that really takes off and in other programs as well."
