APPLETON (WLUK) -- A portion of a busy Appleton road was closed while authorities arrested a man for reports of physical assault.

Officers say just before 3:30 that afternoon, someone called in to report a 30-year-old Appleton man was physically assaulting a woman on the 300 block of E. Wisconsin Avenue.

Initial reports suggested the man had a gun, according to Appleton Police.

Officers blocked off part of the road, and were getting information from the woman when the man came out of a nearby home.

That's when officers arrested the man.

During the arrest E. Wisconsin Ave. was closed between Morrison St. and Drew St. for less than 30 minutes.

The road was reopened to traffic just before 4:30 p.m.

As for the man, he will be held in the Outagamie County Jail.

Police say more information will be released tomorrow.
