Appleton domestic abuse program holds vigil in light of domestic abuse month
APPLETON (WLUK) -- Community members came together to honor those impacted by domestic violence today.
It's part of the Harbor House's annual candlelight vigil.
The event was free to the public, and featured live music.
A survivor of domestic violence also spoke at the event.
One event coordinator shared ways the community can get involved to combat the issue.
"Whether it be just listening to somebody, telling somebody that you believe them and their story, putting posts on your social media page, just engaging in the conversation," said Melissa Giebel.
Gievel is the outreach coordinator for Harbor House domestic abuse programs.
