ASHWAUBENON (WLUK) --Purses and computers were the targets of thieves at two Ashwaubenon homes.

"Entered through the garage, into the residence while they were asleep," explained Captain Jody Crocker of Ashwaubenon Public Safety.

One of the homes is in the 1500 block of Avondale Drive. The other is in the 1400 block of Ponderosa Avenue.

Nearby neighbor, Denise Thomas, is still trying to wrap her head around the break-ins, "Oh, I'd have a heart attack, if I heard somebody in the house."

Crocker says the crimes occurred late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

He says the homeowners made it easy, "The residents both had something in common, and that is they had their garage unlocked."

Crocker says in both instances, the suspect entered the home through the garage, into the living room, "One residence even had a dog, and the dog didn't alert to it."

Fox 11 spoke to the owner of one of the homes who declined to do an on-camera interview.

However, she did share that her husband was awake in basement watching TV when the crime occurred. She says they are still in shock.

In light of the incidents, Crocker says the department is offering a warning to all residents, "Be aware of your surroundings, make sure that you lock up your home, lock up your vehicles if they're in the driveway."

As for Thomas, she says locking up her home has become habit, "You just know these things go on, you try your best to be smart, that's the best we can do."
