1 dead after SUV catches fire in New London

NEW LONDON (WLUK) -- One person is dead after an SUV caught fire in New London Saturday.

The New London Police Department says the fire happened around 9:43 a.m. near Henry Street, east of north Shawano Street.

When authorities arrived on scene, an officer tried using a fire extinguisher to help put out the blaze.

The fire department was able to put out the fire. Police say the incident does not appear to be suspicious and an autopsy is scheduled on Monday.
