DE PERE (WLUK) -- St. Norbert College announced the musicals in its upcoming summer season.

The 56th season will once again be directed by Dudley Birder, who has been a professor of music at the school since 1958.

This season's major musicals are "Cats," which will run June 8-22, and "The Showcase of Stars," which will run July 19-22.

Birder, who turned 90 on Thursday, will step away from musical theater after this summer's performances.

"My life has been a two-way street," Birder said. "And I would have done nothing if I hadn't come and stayed at St. Norbert College, because it's been my life, I've had total support."

Birder founded the summer music theater in 1962. He served as producer and director for all of the 96 musicals since that time.

Birder will continue to direct the Dudley Birder Chorale.
