Teacher in sex assault case arrested for attending graduation ceremony
APPLETON (WLUK) -- A teacher at Little Chute High School who is accused of giving alcohol to a 16-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her has been arrested again.
Police say Jason LaVigne, 45, violated conditions of his bond by attending Appleton West High School's graduation ceremony Thursday night.
On Thursday, LaVigne appeared in court in Marinette County, where the alleged assault took place. LaVigne told the judge that his son was graduating from high school and asked if he could attend a graduation party. The judge told him no.
LaVigne was released from jail on a $25,000 bond on Thursday. One of the conditions of his bond was that he was not allowed to have contact with anyone under 18, except immediate family.
Police say on Friday morning, someone tipped them off that LaVigne was at the graduation ceremony. He was then arrested at his Grand Chute home.
Prosecutors expect LaVigne to appear in court on Monday on possible bail jumping charges.
