Ashwaubenon High School awarded Fab Lab grant
ASHWAUBENON (WLUK) -- Ashwaubenon High School is among five area schools receiving a state economic development grant for a "Fab Lab."
The presenter of the $25,000 Tuesday morning in Ashwaubenon was Gov. Scott Walker.
The high-tech labs provide computer controlled manufacturing components like 3D printers and computerized routers.
22 schools among the 63 applicants received the grants.
Walker stressed the importance of fab labs to a competitive education system.
He called Ashwaubenon's lab and curriculum world-class.
"You want to make sure the skills that our students are getting actually apply to the skills that are needed for positions in the region, here in Ashwaubenon and Brown County and throughout Northeastern Wisconsin," Walker said.
Waupun, Florence County, Antigo and Plymouth also received grants.
