APPLETON (WLUK) -- Police are looking for the person who fired a shot from a vehicle in downtown Appleton.

Police say they were called to the area of W. Johnston and N. State streets around 4 a.m. Sunday. Officers initially found a group of people who refused to give information, but eventually, bystanders who were not involved described what happened. They said there was a dispute among a group of people. The witnesses saw one male point a handgun toward a crowd, then give the gun to a second male. The two got into a silve four-door vehicle and drove north on State Street. As they left, the passenger door opened and a shot was fired back at the crowd. No injuries were reported.

Police believe the dispute may have stemmed from a disturbance near the 500 block of W. College Avenue around bar closing time that same night.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Chad Probst at (920) 832-5536. Anonymous tips may be left through the police department's smartphone app.
