(WLUK) -- U.S. Rep. Glenn Grothman, R-6th District, is reacting to the situation in Syria.

Grothman said if Syria is found to be behind the attack, appropriate responses in the past have included bombing raids.

Grothman also indicated Russia bears some responsibility for securing peace in the region.

"I don't think we want to take over Syria but I think the adults in the region, including perhaps Russia, have to step in, not only to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the future but for looking out for our allies," Grothman said.

Grothman also said the U.S. shouldn't abandon the Syrian people, a possible reference to President Trump's recent comment that he'd like to remove U.S. forces from Syria, quote, "very soon."
