NEW HOLSTEIN – District officials placed New Holstein High School and the adjoining middle school on lockdown mode Friday after an intruder entered the premises.
According to police, the person was wearing a backpack when they entered the school just before 1 p.m.
The suspect ran further into the school when confronted by school officials.School staff physically detained the intruder within minutes. After a brief struggle, police officers took the person into custody.
Officials have not released any more information about the suspect.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Brown County bomb squad was also called, presumably because of the backpack.
