Storm spotter training offered

GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- If you've always liked tracking severe weather, there's a short training offered that will make you an official National Weather Service storm spotter.

Storm spotters are volunteers who keep an "eye to the sky" during severe weather.

The volunteers will observe and report severe weather back to the National Weather Service. They are not storm chasers but report the weather happening where they are.

People wanting to become a storm spotter must complete a 90 minute Skywarn training course.

The course has information on how to identify storm features, positioning strategy and how to stay safe during severe weather.
