GRAND CHUTE (WLUK) -- On Thursday, FOX 11 and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers hosted the annual of Weather Day at Fox Cities Stadium.

It's always a fun day out at the ballpark for this program, and it gives students in attendance the chance to have a little fun and also do a little learning.

FOX 11 Director of Meteorology Pete Petoniak, Chief Meteorologist Patrick Powell and Meteorologists Phil DeCastro and Katy Kramer started by presenting videos about severe weather on the outfield screen.

Then, a few of the 800 students from 10 different schools got to try their hand at some trivia questions and win prizes. The kids could also check out the FOX 11 Storm Chaser outside the park or try their hand at the green screen on the concourse.

As the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers game approached, the meteorologists all got the chance to throw out the first pitch as well.

"My favorite part of the day is just meeting the kids, especially after our presentation, standing in line for the green screen, just seeing how they feel about the weather" Petoniak said. "And there a lot of kids that are very passionate about the weather."

"I'm not that big of a fan of baseball, but just to get outside of class I guess was awesome," said Ben Stevens of Butte des Morts, who went on to say he was more excited about the weather activities than the baseball game.
