April ends warmer and wetter than normal
(WLUK) -- Day three of the month of May is underway and the final numbers for April have come in.
April 2017 ended warmer and wetter than normal, both by a rather large margin.
Compared to the Aprils of the past, this year comes in as the ninth-warmest April on record. The month ended with a mean temperature of 48.6 degrees, which is nearly 5 degree above the monthly average of 43.9 degrees.
Throughout the month, we saw three days reach a high warmer than 70.
Precipitation saw quite the surplus with a total of 4.48". That number is nearly 2 inches above the normal for April of 2.68", making it the 12th-wettest on record.
Throughout the month, we had a few big daily rainfalls, totaling more than the monthly average itself. One of those was a record setting 1.18" on April 15.
