Packers sign QB Evans to practice squad
GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers signed quarterback Jerod Evans to their practice squad Tuesday as announced by the team's Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.
Evans, a 6-foot-3, 232-pound rookie was originally signed as an undrafted rookie by the Philadelphia Eagles but was placed on injured reserve and later released.
The signal caller started 14 games for the Hokies in 2016, throwing for 3,546 yards and 29 touchdowns while adding 846 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.
Evans will wear No. 9 for the Packers this season and is currently the fourth quarterback on the roster.
With Aaron Rodgers (broken right collarbone) long-term status known, Brett Hundley and Joe Callahan are the team's two active quarterbacks.
