GREEN BAY - The Packers played without Aaron Rodgers, Jordy Nelson, and Eddie Lacy in their first preseason game. They showed no rust in making quick work of the Rams defense in week two, putting together a pair of 12-play no huddle, no substitution drives during Rodgers two series at the helm. Both drives ended in points.Last week was a good step for us on offense we moved the ball two twelve play drives you know get used to the speed of the no huddle. I thought it went well," Rodgers of his 11 of 13, 128 yard, one touchdown performance.Eddie Lacy agreed that the offense quickly found its' rhythm. "Last week we were all on the same page and it was a good tempo so we can only get better and so I guess we'll see as the season go along."According to David Bakhtiari even the big guys on the offensive line enjoy those lengthy no-huddle drives, As long as they finish in the end zone. "You only end up settling for three points you work that hard you might as well get seven," an animated Bakhtiari said. The no-huddle drives are no picnic for defenders either. Julius Peppers provided perspective on what the no huddle does to a defense mentally and physically. "You know you've just got to take a step back and make those adjustments. If you're fortunate enough to get a stop you've got to go to the sideline and get prepared for it but when they have a balanced attack and are converting third and shorts then it can be really hard on the defense."Coach McCarthy and the offense have been working all training camp inside the Huston Center preparing for the season opener against Seattle, making sure no secrets find the light of day. They'll keep the preseason playbook vanilla as well but the offense is still looking to accomplish certain things."We're very conscious of what the first group is doing how much they're doing it and what we need to get ready for in Seattle because it is such a quick game," McCarthy said. Randall Cobb wants to carry the success from the Rams game into this contest against the Raiders. "I think just continue what we started last week with our tempo and continue to move the ball well like we have. Just continue to press the defense," Cobb said. Jordy Nelson added, "Just execute. I think it's something we did very well last week. We'll probably be out there a little longer. Execute and get off the field healthy."Two benchmarks that if reached should have the Packers coaches leaving Lambeau Field and their dress rehearsal for the season feeling good.
