GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- A free concert with Everclear and Blues Traveler headlines Kickoff Weekend events held by the Green Bay Packers.

The weekend begins Sept. 9, one day before the Packers' regular-season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

The team says the concert will be held outside Lambeau Field, in front of the Oneida Nation gate.

Kandi Goltz with the Green Bay Packers said the celebration will be a huge debut for the new Johnsonville Tailgate Village.

"We have so many people visiting Lambeau field the whole entire weekend before the Packers game that we thought let's just give them something more to do," Goltz said.

President of Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau, Brad Toll, said the new Tailgate zone won't take away from surrounding businesses, but instead add to the festive atmosphere.

"It could bring in extra people that don't have tickets to the game, but are just coming to enjoy opening day in Green Bay," Toll said.

Festivities begin at 3 p.m., when the new Johnsonville Tailgate Village on the stadium's east side opens. Food and drinks will be available for purchase until 9 p.m.

Music begins at 5 p.m.

Free parking is available on the stadium's west side.

On game day, the Johnsonville Tailgate Village opens at 11:25 a.m. and stadium gates open at 1:25 p.m. Kickoff is at 3:25 p.m.
