Collins made the announcement on Twitter, saying, "I'm officially announced my retirement from the #NFL. I also would like to thank my family, friends, and the Packer Nation for the love and support."
Collins, a three-time Pro Bowler (2008-2010) suffered a neck injury on Sept. 18, 2011, in a game against the Carolina Panthers when he attempted to tackle Jonathan Stewart. Collins spent the night at the hospital and returned to Green Bay the next day, where it was announced he would miss the remainder of the 2011 season.
On April 25, 2012, Green Bay decided to release Collins because of the neck injury. Collins, who had 21 career interceptions and four TDs, never played again.
Collins was a second-round pick out of Bethune-Cookman in 2005.
