Senior Standout: Oshkosh North's Quincy Anderson
OSHKOSH (WLUK) --Quincy Anderson is a key player on the Oshkosh North boys basketball team, which is undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the FOX 11 Top 11 boys basketball rankings.
Anderson is the Spartans' leading scorer, averaging 26.2 points per game. His best game this season he scored a career-high 37 points against cross-town rival Oshkosh West.
Anderson is this week's Senior Standout and recently he took time to talk about the season. He are some excerpts from the interview:
Thoughts on team this season: "So far what I think we found with our team is we are a really resilient group. When we face adversity, we usually respond in a good day. We don't get down our ourselves. We don't decompose and that's one of the great things about this team."
On new head coach Brad Weber, who had been a long-time assistant under Frank Schade: "Honestly, it hasn't been too different. He's been here for two decades as an assistant to coach Schade and he's running this team very similar. However, he does have a little more modern coaching style than coach Schade. It kind of works with us, we're in a new age where technology and stuff like that is a big deal, so I think coach Weber incorporates that nicely."
How he sees himself as a player: "I'd describe myself as an athletic scorer. However, that isn't to take away what I can do on defense. I think my shooting ability has drastically increased from last year to this year -- I've been working on that all summer and my ability to slash and get to the hoop that's two aspects of my game I've really improved since last year."
