St. Norbert baseball opens NCAA Tournament with UW-Whitewater
DE PERE (WLUK) -- The St. Norbert baseball team is heading to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2014. They are the 8 seed automatic qualifier out of the Midwest Conference and will face the host UW-Whitewater.
Whitewater knocked St. Norbert out of the national tournament three years ago on their way to a national championship.
The Green Knights were swept in a doubleheader with the Warhawks earlier this month, 14-9 and 13-1.
"They're a good ball club pretty much all around. They have good pitching and great hitters, they're pretty fast on the bases and it was nice to be able to see them play and help us prepare a little bit," said Green Knights senior infielder Ray McDonald. "We're not going to take a back seat to anybody we're ready hoping to get a W."
"Whitewater is obviously a very good team if anyone knows anything about them, but we're a good team also," said Green Knights junior P/OF Jason Malkowski. "We just have to play our game and do what we do best. Anything cam happen it's a baseball game and we're just going to do what we've done all year and hopefully get a win."
First pitch for Thursday's game in Whitewater is set for 1:15.
