Phoenix women beat Penguins; back in Horizon League title game

The Green Bay women beat Youngstown State to reach the Horizon League title game Tuesday.

DETROIT (WLUK) -- For the eighth straight season, the top-seeded Green Bay women’s basketball team will be playing for the Horizon League Tournament Championship after the No. 22 Phoenix downed No. 5 seed Youngstown State 66-45 in the Horizon League tournament semifinals Monday.

Green Bay (28-3) outscored the Penguins, 40-17, in the second half and has won 10 straight tournament games.

Green Bay trailed 28-26 at half, but outscored YSU 21-5 in the third quarter and shot 58.6 percent (17-for-29) in the final 20 minutes.

Jessica Lindstrom led Green Bay with 17 points, while Allie LeClaire added 16 and Jen Wellnitz scored a season-high points.

The Phoenix play the winner of No. 2 seed IUPUI and No. 3 seed Wright State in Tuesday's title game at at 11 a.m.
