Phoenix hoops sweep home set Saturday

GREEN BAY - The Green Bay men's and women's basketball teams each picked up home wins Saturday.

At the Kress Center, the No. 21 Phoenix cruised past Bradley, 72-50. With the victory UWGB picked up its ninth win in their first 10 games of the season.

Karly Murphy led all scorers with a career-high 19 points, while Notre Dame alum Allie LeClaire added 15 and Kimberly's Frankie Wurtz chipped in with 12.

Kevin Borseth's team travels to Evanston, Ill. Tuesday for a road showdown at Northwest. Tip-off is set for 11 a.m.

It was also a successful night at the Resch Center, with the Phoenix men's team rolling past Division II's UW-Parkside, 86-50.

Starting fast, Green Bay jumped out to a 52-20 first half lead and never looked back.

With the victory, UWGB snaps a two-game skid and improves to 4-6 on the season.

Hunter Crist led five players in double figures with a career-high 15 points against the Rangers. Kameron Hankerson, P.J. Pipes and David Jesperson each added 11 for Linc Darner's RP40 system.

The Phoenix return to action Monday night when they host Rockford at the Resch Center. Tip-off set for 7 p.m.
