Kraker drafted in third round of WNBA Draft
GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- Former Green Bay basketball star Mehryn Kraker was drafted by the Washington Mystics in the third round of the WNBA Draft on Thursday.
Kraker, the 27th selection in the three-round draft, was named the Horizon League player of the year this past season after averaging 17.6 points per game and setting the program record for career 3-pointers with 233.
“I’m thrilled and ready for the opportunity,” Kraker said. “I’m also thankful to see the hard work and sacrifices pay off. Not only for myself but for this program, this university, my family and those who have supported me.”
Kraker is the second Green Bay player drafted into the WNBA, as Julie Wojta was a second-round selection (18th overall) in 2012 by San Antonio. Also, Chandra Johnson played eight games for the Los Angeles Sparks in 2003 and Natalie Berglin attended camp for the Connecticut Sun in 2008.
