ASHWAUBENON (WLUK) -- FOX 11 is once again teaming up with Partners in Education for the annual Golden Apple Awards.

On Tuesday, FOX 11's Mike Murad visited Parkview Elementary students in Ashwaubenon to tell students how they can nominate their favorite teachers.

It's seventh-grade teacher Abby Heinritz's seventh year as a teacher and she says her role is to recognize both the strengths of every student, as well as areas for improvement.

"Education is not just a bunch of students, it's a bunch of collective, individual students. So we need to make sure we know where they're at so that we can help them to grow and help them to become what they are capable of," she said.

Like any career, she says there are obstacles to overcome, but adds the rewards of education pay off every day.

"I mean it's definitely challenging, as anything is, but I love coming here and I love seeing them and I love seeing their growth and I love seeing them excited to come into class," Heinritz said.

Students can nominate their teachers by filling out a form here.

The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, April 19.
