Golden Apple Awards look to recognize inspiring teachers

GREEN BAY (WLUK) -- FOX 11 is once again teaming up with Partners in Education for the annual Golden Apple Awards.

On Tuesday, FOX 11's Tom Milbourn visited Jackson Elementary School in Green Bay to talk about the annual awards.

Students in Becky Van Rens' 5th grade class agreed that their teacher should be among all those teachers saluted.

For Van Rens, in her 16th year teaching, all at Jackson, she says she still has the drive.

"The wanting to learn, continuing to learn all the time. Finding out new things. Kind of inspiring the kids," she said.

Tuesday was the day to present teachers with a chocolate treat and also to remind students to nominate their teacher for a 2017 Golden Apple.
