TOWN OF BAILEYS HARBOR (WLUK) -- The Lake Michigan shoreline is dotted with historic lighthouses, but few are in such scenic surroundings as the Cana Island Lighthouse in Door County.

The nearly 150-year-old lighthouse is now open for tours during the summer season. The 89-foot-tall tower stands on an 8.7-acre island. Tourists can also see the original home of the lightkeeper and his family and the oil house where the fuel for the light was stored. Visitors can also trek 97 steps up the spiral staircase to the top to see spectacular views of Lake Michigan and the Door County peninsula.

Watch the video above to see amazing views of the lighthouse and its surrounding area from SKYFOX.

The lighthouse's exterior and tower were recently restored. Future renovation plans include restoration of the outbuildings, an interior restoration of the keeper's house and construction of an interpretive area.
