Vinehout 'can't ever say never' on Senate re-election bid
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Democratic gubernatorial candidate Kathleen Vinehout is hedging on whether she definitely won't seek re-election to the state Senate.
Vinehout, of Alma, launched her campaign for governor on Monday. Her Senate seat is also up next year and she can't be on the ballot for both at the same time.
Vinehout said through a spokesman Monday that she wouldn't seek a fourth Senate term and that she was fully committed to running for governor.
But Vinehout told The Associated Press on Tuesday "I can't ever say never" when asked if it's possible she'd run for re-election, adding "it's not in my plan."
June 1 is the deadline for Vinehout to submit nomination papers. If she drops her gubernatorial bid after that, she could run as a write-in candidate for Senate.
