Teacher suspended for online post

Walworth teacher suspended

WILLIAMS BAY - A Walworth County teacher has been suspended for remarks she allegedly made online.

Superintendent Wayne Anderson confirms the district is investigating a fifth grade teacher at Williams Bay Elementary.

The teacher allegedly posted a comment on Facebook which read "I'd like to go on a short, but effective killing spree. My children are insane."

There is then an asterisk and another quote which reads, "school and home.”

"To actually be so immature to put it online like that is a grave mistake," said Ellen O'Malley. O'Malley was a one-time substitute teacher for a different district.

Dan and Margie Sychowski say they sympathize with a school teacher feeling frustrated, but say the comment cannot be condoned.

"But you don't know for sure especially now-a-days looking at the news all across the country, across the world about what's going on, you've got to take everything as serious," said Dan Sychowski.

Superintendent Anderson would not say if the teacher has resigned. The district's teachers' union says the teacher will remain home for the rest of the week. The school year ends on Friday.
