WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) - The family of the 12-year-old girl who was repeatedly stabbed in a Waukesha park says she's a "fighter" and is improving every day.A fundraising website set up by the family says the girl has been walking the halls of the hospital with her dad and has been watching TV in her wheelchair. Her parents say they've been trying to limit visitors because she becomes overwhelmed easily. The girl is hospitalized at Waukesha Memorial in fair condition.
The parents expressed appreciation for the love and support from relatives, friends and community. The family is asking for homemade purple hearts with encouraging messages to put up in the girl's room.Two of her classmates, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, have been charged with trying to kill her by stabbing her 19 times Saturday.
